Nathan Wheeler performing in his show "September Sixth"

Nathan Wheeler (b. 1986) is an American improvisatory composer and performance artist specializing in interactivity and interdisciplinary collaboration. His work is informed by his background as a classical musician, composer, and sound engineer, in addition to his investigations into film, dance, electronics, and performance art. When he isn’t in the studio composing genre-bending electro-acoustic music or recording studio albums, he performs cutting-edge electronic compositions as a solo artist. Computers, harmonium and an arsenal of contact microphones, found objects and strange guitar pedals are a sampling of the tools at his disposal, and many performances feature collaborations with guest musicians, dancers, and film/video artists. He has performed at various international electronic arts festivals including Communikey and the SPARK festival in Minneapolis.
He has shared the stage with William Basinsky, Tim Eriksen, Albert Mathias (LiveHuman, La Alternativa), Mark McGuire (Emeralds), Janet Feder, Gamelan Tunas Mekar, Lina Bahn (Corigliano Quartet, VERGE Ensemble) and Mark McCoin. He has participated in master classes with George Crumb and Kronos Quartet, and recently released a collaborative album with kikiilimikilii, a New Age Noise artist from Paris, available on DEEP TAPES. Nathan holds a degree in Music Composition from the University of Colorado at Boulder with an emphasis in Music Technology.
